Notice of Art in Public Places Board Vacancy

 

The Village of Key Biscayne, the (“Village”), is seeking to fill a vacancy on the Art in Public Places Board.

 

During the June 11, 2019 Regular Council Meeting, the Village Council discussed having the Village Clerk issue a Notice of Vacancy for the Art in Public Places Board to provide an opportunity for all interested individuals to submit their information for consideration.

The Art in Public Places Board, shall act in the public’s interest upon all matters relating to the program and shall support the program’s goals and objectives. The Board’s responsibilities include recommendations to the Council for the selection, maintenance, planning, and curating of all Works of Art acquired by the Village. The Board’s responsibilities also include the selection, maintenance, planning and public education regarding and curating of all Works of Art to be loaned to the Village.


The Board is comprised of (7) members and shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of Council.


In this case, the applicant must be knowledgeable in public art, must be a resident of the Village, and is precluded from participating in and/or voting on any matter which may directly or indirectly benefit the member, any family member or business associate member.


The members shall serve at the will of Council.

The individual will be appointed by the Village Council at the Tuesday, August 27, 2019, Regular Council Meeting. Board appointments are not set for a time certain.

The Office of the Village Clerk will compile the names and forward to the Village Council for their review and consideration. Applicants must provide the information requested in order to be considered for the Art in Public Places Board vacancies.

The deadline to submit is Friday, August 2, 2019, at 4:30 p.m.
