Government Building Efficiency & Conservation

  • Village Hall was built with the highest-rated energy efficient windows, doors, lighting fixtures and HVAC systems available at the time.

  • Improved efficiency upgrades are considered when any equipment or fixtures are replaced.

  • Employees are reminded by stickers above light switches to turn off lights when leaving offices, conference rooms, lunch rooms or other areas.

  • Information Technology efforts include:
    • Regular technology upgrades to more energy-efficient and responsive equipment.
    • Moving toward Server Virtualization: the consolidation of servers for energy efficiency and continuity of operations.
    • Minimizing use of personal printers and encouraging employees to use shared printer/copiers.
    • Participation in the Annual Recycling Drive to recycle Village electronics that are not repurposed or reused.
  • Most Departments discontinued the bulk purchase of bottled water. Countertop systems were installed that filter tap water and provide hot/cold water on demand.

  • Village Council approved a ban on styrofoam use within Village buildings.
