Traffic/Work Alert: ATT to Trim Around Utility Lines, Install Fiber Cable Starting May 22, 2017

Posted: Thursday, May 18, 2017 3:30 pm

ATT will be upgrading residential service by installing fiber cable in three areas of the Village as shown by the street names in the maps below. Tree trimming contractors will first clear vegetation around phone lines in the rights-of-ways beginning on May 22, 2017. ATT crews will follow to run new fiber cable that will be lashed together to existing copper cable.

If access to a property is required to reach a utility right-of-way, a project representative will knock at the door and leave a door hanger with information in advance of any work. If no one is home on the work day, crews will go to next residence and return at a later time. Please secure dogs inside before work begins in the right-of-way adjacent to your residence.

Work hours will be 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Residents should expect trucks, equipment and personnel from the tree-trimming contractor in the area followed by ATT equipment and personnel. Rose Contracting (certified arborists) will do the trimming in Phase 1; Asplundh will perform trimming in Phases 2 and 3. Crews are required to remove all trimmed vegetation and other items from properties. Village Code Enforcement Officers will be monitoring the work.

Work ahead signs, cones and flagmen to direct traffic around equipment will be used to notify residents of work sites. Temporary lane closures may occur along streets as work progresses.

The project is divided into three phases with estimated start times and work duration as follows:

  • Phase 1: Area between Fernwood Rd, Harbor Dr, West Enid Dr and West Mashta Dr (Figure 1)
Work starts May 22; estimated completion June 2
  • Phase 2: Area North of West Heather Dr and between Fernwood Rd and Harbor Dr (Figure 2)
Will likely start in June and continue for four weeks into July; a start date will be
                   provided later
  • Phase 3: Holiday Colony area East of Crandon Blvd (Figure 3)
Will likely start in July and continue for three weeks into August; a start date will be
                   provided later
