Village Radio 1640 AM

Listen to Radio 1640 here!

As part of the Village of Key Biscayne’s ongoing commitment to be prepared for emergencies or disasters within our community, the Village has installed radio equipment that will help Village officials communicate with Key Biscayne residents in the event of a natural disaster or emergency situation. The City has received a license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to operate a low-power, AM radio station that can broadcast within a seven-mile radius from the radio tower installed on the roof of Village Hall. The radio station is located at 1640 AM and has been licensed as WQJM-409 by the FCC. This is a local government station and is limited by the FCC to a transmission power of only 10 watts.

In the event of a disaster/emergency, citizens will be able to listen to Village Radio 1640 for reports, instructions, and specific alerts that would pertain to the Village of Key Biscayne.

Regular programming of Village Radio 1640 includes traffic advisories, event updates and answers to frequently asked questions.
