 C.P. R./A.E.D Classes

Learn how to save a life ... Learn how to perform CPR!

Village residents may sign up for a CPR/AED class with certified instructors from the Key Biscayne Fire Rescue Department (C.P.R.: CardioPulmonary Resuscitation; A.E.D.: Automated External Defibrallator). All teachers are certified by the American Heart Association as Basic Life Support Instructors. Adult and Child/Infant CPR technique and accident prevention tips are covered.

Participants receive a certificate of completion card upon graduation from the course.

Call the Village of Key Biscayne Fire Rescue Department at (305) 365-8989 for more information on how to set up a class or to register for the next available scheduled class.

Classes are available year round and are free of charge for Key Biscayne residents.  Non-residents pay a nominal fee.

Kids' Awareness Programs

Members of the Fire Rescue Department participate in diverse children's educational programs every year:

  • Make Risk Watch presentations to all 4th, 5th, and 6th graders in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association. Key Biscayne is the only South Florida community where this very successful program is offered in every educational institution.
  • Children attending Key Biscayne schools participate in a Fire Safety Puppet Show and tour of the Fire Rescue Department as part of National Fire Prevention Week
  • Present Fire Safety Skits during the Children's Fire Safety Festival which reaches approximately 3,000 Miami-Dade County school-age children.

C.E.R.T. Program and Classes

The Village Fire Rescue Department offers Citizen Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) classes to interested residents on an as requested basis. This highly successful volunteer program includes training in disaster preparedness; disaster fire suppression; disaster medical operations; light search and rescue operations; and disaster psychology and organization.
Courses for new participants and refresher classes for existing volunteers are scheduled when the need arises. Call (305) 365-8989 for more information.
