Sanitary Sewers

All of the multi-family and single-family neighborhoods in the Village have sanitary sewer service provided by the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department (WASD) . A multi-year sanitary sewer installation project that concluded in 2010 provided 698 single-family residences using septic tanks with the ability to connect to sewer service.

Guidelines and rules (PDF) for connecting to the sanitary sewer system and for abandoning a septic tank/drainfield system are provided online. This document, last revised in March 2018, includes step-by-step how to guidelines as well as permitting and fee information.

Property owners are advised to hire licensed and insured plumbing contractors to perform any work within your property. Be aware that plumbers who are licensed to perform sewer connection work may not be qualified by the state to abandon septic tanks/drainfields.

NOTE to Residents:  If you call WASD to report a suspected sewer problem, the Authority will charge you a $145.00 service call fee to come if the cause if the problem is within your property.
