Village Returns to Normal Day-to-Day Activities after Ultra Music Festival Weekend

The Ultra Music Festival weekend in Virginia Key is now behind us! We are back to regular activities such as school and work and can traverse the Causeway to reach off island destinations without expected traffic delays.

The Village is pleased to report that the Emergency Response Plan for Ultra worked efficiently and effectively. Village residents and visitors were not negatively affected from a public safety perspective throughout the weekend (March 29th, 30th and 31st). The increased Police presence in the Village ensured the safety of all residents and visitors.

Village Public Safety Officials were always in contact with City of Miami and Miami-Dade County officials. More importantly, Village officials were on site (at Ultra) throughout the event at the City of Miami's command post.

Expected increased traffic delays related to Ultra Music Festival hours from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. occurred every day throughout the afternoon, evening and early morning hours. The Village's Communications team urged residents and visitors to be prepared for inevitable traffic delays via Constant Contact email blasts, Facebook and Twitter posts as well as the Village's website. A key message was to plan ahead before leaving the Village and/or returning.

The Village strongly opposes Ultra Music Festival in Virginia Key and will always remain committed to mitigating your safety and traffic concerns.
