ARMED ROBBERY ARREST: UPDATE #3

The Key Biscayne Police Department is proud to announce that we have made arrests in connection with the armed robbery and vehicle burglaries which occurred on Monday, January 17th, 2022.

Our investigators worked tirelessly in collaboration with several local police departments: Miami Dade, South Miami, Miami Dade Schools, Coral Gables, and the City of Miami.  They received leads and information from our victims, residents, and through several investigative techniques, which led to the identification of five subjects.

Last night, this information led our investigators and several agencies to the South Miami area.  While in South Miami, investigators located two stolen vehicles and conducted surveillance of the residence.  During the surveillance, individuals occupied the vehicles and police attempted a traffic stop.  The subjects inside of the two vehicles exited and fled on foot in the 6600 block of Southwest 58th Place in the City of South Miami.  After a brief foot pursuit, four subjects were placed into custody.

Two firearms were recovered on scene in addition to stolen property from the armed robbery and vehicle burglaries that took place in the village.  Investigators worked alongside our partners from Miami Dade Police and were able to secure a statement from one of the subjects implicating their involvement in the crimes within the jurisdiction of Key Biscayne.

The following individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the following:

As stated yesterday, we continue to increase our community policing efforts.  You have already seen increased police officer presence in the village over the past few months.  This is something we will continue as we work to prevent crime, police youth disorder and address traffic safety, while increasing our engagement with the community.

The Key Biscayne Police Department was focused and steadfast in our efforts until we were able to successfully arrest those responsible for these criminal acts.  We will continue to work hard and engage with the community to ensure a safe and secure environment for all our residents.
